Démarche – Approach

Catherine Mainguy est artiste plasticienne, à la Maison des Artistes depuis 2006, vit et travaille à Lyon.

Catherine mélange les techniques, mixte les matières: elle utilise principalement le dessin, la peinture et le photomontage. Ses thèmes de prédilection sont le rapport au corps et à son environnement.

Son univers sensible et poétique, est peuplé de nymphes, déesses, gardiennes, et femmes iconiques.

Dans son travail de plasticienne, le féminin sacré s’allie à la puissance de la nature.

« Sur les chemins de cette forêt fantastique, l’oeil entend pousser fleurs, plantes et arbres. Ce chœur mêlant germination et éclosion célèbre le vivant non-humain et humain. »

Son atelier-galerie est ouvert depuis Juin 2008 sur les pentes de la croix- rousse à Lyon.

Catherine organise dans son atelier des expositions thématiques avec d’autres artistes dont les univers la touchent et qui font écho à son propre travail. Des évènements culturels sont régulièrement proposés : performance, danse, lecture, concert, et rencontres du public avec les artistes.

Catherine Mainguy is a visual artist, registered with the Maison des Artistes since 2006, who lives and works in Lyon.

Catherine mixes techniques and materials: she mainly uses drawing, painting and photomontage. Her favourite themes are the relationship between the body and its environment.

Her sensitive, poetic world is peopled by nymphs, goddesses, guardians and iconic women.

In her work as a visual artist, the sacred feminine combines with the power of nature.

« Along the paths of this fantastic forest, the eye hears flowers, plants and trees grow. This chorus of germination and blossoming celebrates the living, non-human and human.

Her studio-gallery opened in June 2008 on the slopes of the Croix-Rousse in Lyon.

In her studio, Catherine organises themed exhibitions with other artists whose worlds touch her and echo her own work. There are regular cultural events on offer, including performances, dance, readings, concerts and meetings between the public and the artists.
